Psychology is a field of knowledge that has presented a theoretical dispersion since its establishment as a formal science at the end of the 19th century. This dispersion is marked by the variety of matrices that constitute psychological knowledge, which support its own methodologies and epistemologies. Considering the plurality of views about man and the world encompassed by Psychology, is it possible to define an object of study that is intelligible to the singularities of a science that seeks to produce rigorous knowledge? The purpose of this work was to discuss how the processes of subjectivation occupy this place of object of study of psychological science. To weave the thread of this proposition, the objectives of this work were: to understand the subject-object dialectic in scientific and philosophical thought from Antiquity in the West; to investigate the change of paradigms in the structure of the revolutions of scientific thought; to analyze how the processes of subjectivation relate to and enable the scientific-philosophical traditions in Psychology. This work was configured as a theoretical study that, over three chapters and the proposed objectives, sought to demonstrate that although Psychology is a methodologically and epistemologically diffuse science, the plurality in the production of knowledge in this science has as a condition of possibility the processes of subjectivation. human beings, preserving the multiplicity that is a constituent of Psychology while it demarcates a scope of scientificity to it.
