Resumo: |
Violence affects women around the world, and most often the perpetrator is the partner. Women in situations of violence practiced by the partner tend to remain in the abusive relationship for years, suffering serious consequences to health and quality of life. Therefore, it was the objective of this study to identify the variables that keep women in a violent relationship. The research was carried out with 30 women who were in the Casa Abrigo and who lodged a complaint in the Specialized Police Station in Assistance to Women of São Luís-MA. A Likert- type scale was used for data collection to identify the form and degree of violence against women composed of 36 items that described different situations of violence and an interview script that involved issues of identification of the participants, reasons alleged to remain, history of family relationships and expectations about the future of the relationship. Most women were between 18 and 44 years of age, complete high school, in stable union for more than five years, with at least one child born of the relationship and did not have formal work. Through the scale to identify form and degree of violence against women, it was noted that all participants suffered psychological, physical and sexual violence in medium or high grade. In an interview with open-ended questions, the main reasons women were identified were: lack of family support and friends (80%), financial dependency (70%), passivity model of women who suffered violence in the family of interviewees (70% ), models of violent relationships (56%), expectation of change in partner behavior (40%) and presence of children in the relationship (22%). It is considered necessary to teach new models of relationships, new patterns of behavior towards pre-aversives that not only prevent violence from occurring, but which can end the cycle of violence. On a preventive basis, it is necessary to work with young people to deconstruct old social rules and the teaching of conjugal social skills. In addition, the results found in this research can contribute to the elaboration of public policies aimed at breaking the cycle of violence and also to help in the training of professionals, especially Psychology, who work in specialized services with these women. |
