Resumo: |
Quality of life is broad and different concepts ranging from person to person, not only involving physical and mental health. In the context of pregnant women's health and well-being, infections caused by Zika virus are triggering factors for microcephaly and other serious brain abnormalities. In 2015, Brazil recorded the first cases of Zika, confirming the recent entry of this arbovirus in the country. The dissemination of the Zika and Chikungunya viruses and their impact in Brazil establish an emergency situation in Public Health. The birth of children with congenital syndrome (microcephaly) associated with Zika Virus can compromise the quality of life of their mothers, generating difficulties to perform their activities of daily living. Objective: to investigate the perception of the quality of life of mothers of children with congenital syndrome (microcephaly) associated with Zika Virus. Method: Retrospective, qualitative study, carried out in two stages. The first one was given at the Maternal and Child University Hospital (HUUFMA), where the cataloged cases of newborns diagnosed with congenital syndrome were surveyed, from November 2015 to May 2017, together with the epidemiological surveillance of the hospital. The second phase was performed at the NINAR Support House in São Luis-Ma, through semi-structured interviews with the mothers of children with congenital syndrome associated with Zika Virus, in July 2018. The sample consisted of 10 women aged 18 to 35 years, being 06 single and 04 married, 08 with high school, 01 elementary school, 01 higher education-social worker and 09 from home. Results: In terms of Critical Discourse Analysis, according to Fairclough's (2008) assumptions, four categories emerged: Quality of Life and Health. For the women interviewed the quality of life view is linked to the broad meaning of the term health. They reported on physical health, decent work opportunities, financial stability, education, housing and culture. Quality of Life and Health Care Networks. The relationship between health networks and the quality of life addressed by the study participants is characterized by the precariousness and fragmentation of the visits, delay in the scheduling of the consultations, dehumanization of the assistance, in what has repercussions on the quality of life. Quality of Life and Free Time. The participants describe the lack of free time to perform their activities of daily living and leisure, since much of it is dedicated to the care of the children and the constant visits to the health team. Quality of Life and Perspective of the Future. The lack of perspective on the future was addressed in the speech of the participants, considering that much needed to leave their work and formal education to care for their children. Conclusions: It is necessary for Brazil to invest in health policies aimed at comprehensive care, covering the child and the family nucleus and thus improving the living conditions of these families. In particular, these mothers, untiring women, of a difficult reality, but capable of reacting to the need to give a better life to their children. |
