Resumo: The countless changes in the way of producing and transmitting information that have taken place in recent years reveal that journalism is a movement and is constantly adapting to meet the commercial demands of communication companies and the aspirations of the social tissue in contemporary times. Among these changes, we mobilized as an object of analysis the emergence of a hybrid model in television journalism, infotainment (DEJAVITE, 2006, 2007; GOMES, 2009; BELÉM 2015, 2017). Therefore, based on a model of transformation that occurred in Brazilian journalism and as a model to meet these requirements. To this end, we discuss the transformations that have taken place in Brazilian television journalism and the adaptations to meet these requirements. During the construction of the present research, we approached the insertion of this model in the contents of the news, as well as in the language and in the journalistic practice of four TV news from Maranhão: 'JMTV 1st edition' from the cities of Imperatriz and São Luís; and the TV news 'Hora D', both produced and also presented in these two cities. Thus, the focal point of this research is based on understanding how infotainment is expressed in telejournalism from Maranhão and reflecting on how it reconfigures the telejournalistic practice to keep itself as a reference to the viewer. To this purpose, we have as specific objectives: a) To understand how infotainment re(defines) the practices in television news and the way of approaching the contents; b) Check the characteristics and elements of infotainment in the Maranhão television news JMTV 1st edition and Na Hora D; c) Understand what professionals understand by infotainment and how they work it in the productions of television news. In the construction of this route, we used a hybrid methodology (quali-quanti) focused on Content Analysis (BARDIN, 2006; MINAYO, 2001), based on the observation of twelve editions of each of the aforesaid television news, broadcast in the months July and August 2021. For the production of data, we used semi-structured interviews as tools. (BAUER AND GASKEL, 2002; GIL, 1999), in which they were carried out with six news professionals, including producers, reporters, news chiefs and editors. In the construction of the corpus, we worked with six categories with infotainment resources such as: format, scope, theme, language, conduct and technique. Thus, we observed that the television news made use of these elements in 93 newsreports, which appeared in reports and other spaces in the newscasts. In their formulas, we also highlight that the research subjects stated that the social consequences would be directly the form of consumption of the portions of journalism. As a result, four television newscasts are intended to use infotainment and the way to serve social lines and fulfill the function of journalism. In this way, we conclude that the four newscasts take advantage of the potential brought by social changes and we hope that this research allows communication professionals to reflect on the complexity and contribution that infotainment brings to contemporary journalism.
