Resumo: This dissertation has as object of analysis the work of Jô Vasconcellos, produced between the years 1972 to 2000, corresponding to a historiographic gap on Brazilian postmodern architecture. Due to the lack of systematized studies on national postmodern languages, it was necessary to recover the discussion about postmodernism in general and its role in the international historiography and in Brazilian architecture in particular to insert the “patropi” version of Jô Vasconcellos in this context, to reveal the production of Jô Vasconcellos in the Brazilian scene. The main goal is to bring light to this character and to his production through the works, illustrating the complexity if the period in question, understanding the transformations of the international paradigms and the manifestations and appropriations in Brazilian territory are important for the understanding of contemporary architecture. Thus, with the specific goals, we sought to contextualize the factors of international influences manifested in the different critical aspects of the Modern Movement, to identify and map this production, aiming at understanding the scope of post-modern manifestations, to realize the importance of the pioneering spirit of Jô Vasconcellos through her architectural and editorial production. Thus, we will seek to understand the professional trajectory of Jô Vasconcellos and how the social, political and economic issues that influenced her performance. It is, therefore, a theoretical and historical-bibliographic reflection, in which the expected results contribute to a deepening of the theme, due to its multifaceted and complex character, which may bring light to the discussions and interpretations of the works of postmodern Bazilian architects.
