Resumo: Inscribed into the arena of knowledge on gender identities, this work is about transsexuality, a subject on which rests many controversies, starting with the use of the terms transsexualism and transsexuality. They are not only different words, but mean different viewpoints and can demarcate opposing perspectives of fields of knowledge regarding transsexual condition, one that defends the diversity of gender identities and one that conceives it as pathology. This research aims to situate the debate about depathologization of transsexuality in Brazil analyzing its discursive fields. On one hand, I try to identify who are the actors involved in the campaign and investigate how they are producing the debate, showing what kinds of mobilizations have been made and what are their main demands. On the other hand, I seek to identify and analyze the knowledge underlying the depathologization speeches and other discourses which are opposed to this perspective. I present and analyze the proposals of the campaign concerning the continuity of health/medical care as well as the maintenance of the rights of transsexuals in a possible depathologization of transsexuality.
