Resumo: | School dropouts are recurrent in the schooling of young and adult people, therefore, this dissertation has the purpose of understanding the phenomenon of dropping out by students from Young and Adult Education (EJA) at the Gustavo Biazus State High School, in the municipality of Tupanci do Sul /RS, and the perspective of actions by the school to promote the return and permanence of students. It is linked to Line II, Research in Non-formal Education: Political-Social Practices, from the Professional Master’s Degree in Education (PPGPE) at the Federal University of Fronteira Sul (UFFS). It is a qualitative approach research Ludke and André (1986), exploratory and descriptive Thiollent (1988) and Gil (2008). The technical procedures are bibliographic research Gil (2008) and documentary research Ludke and André (1986). The data collection instruments are the semi-structured interview Gil (2008), Triviños (1987), and documental analysis Triviños (1987). In order to support the study, the contributions of the following researchers were essential: Arroyo (2017) with his reflections on itineraries in support of the right to a just life; Freire (1996) addresses a liberating pedagogy without oppression; Charlot (2013) reflects on educational practices and social realities and school failures; Mészáros (2008) brings reflections on education beyond capitalism; Sanceverino (2016) points out concepts and content rich in social complexity as well as the rights of EJA students; Laffin (2006) explores the schooling of Young people and Adults and its relationship with work, Gonçalves (2012) says that EJA students are victims of a vicious cycle of exclusion; Ribeiro (2010) creates possibilities for new insertions and learning; Faria (2013) observes several programs for EJA; Capucho (2012) elucidates the situations of inequality; Machado and Fiss (2014) debate the dropout rate in EJA and its external factors; Di Pierro (2005) conducts a look at the lack of school knowledge, the compensatory conception, and prejudiced views on EJA students. The information obtained through the interviews respects a script prepared by the researcher that made it possible to understand the reasons for dropping out. It is expected, with this research, to identify and understand the reasons that lead to the occurrence of dropping out, the main difficulties that students face in their daily lives, as work, family and in the school environment, seeking to promote the return and permanence of students at the school. It was found through this investigation that the main cause of dropping out is related to work life, as long working hours generate a lot of fatigue, and it was also verified the lack of specific training for teachers who work in this modality. In order to improve the access and permanence of these young people and adults, it presents itself as a product and a training proposal around the subject of dropping out in Education for Young and Adult People, EJA. |
