Resumo: The Brazilian market openness during the 90's exposed the enterprises into international competition. The enterprises became aware of satisfaction even more their customers in order to guarantee their participation in the market. The enterprises have been investing in new technologies and improvements have been made in their management system. Although it was stated that good performance not only depends on internal efforts but also on the products quality furnished by third-party. This study discusses the importance of the supplier in the production chain and presents the evolution in the vendor-vendee relation. A formulated model is proposed to suppliers assessment in that objectives defined in the strategic planning of the company are used as for the assessment. This model is formulated from an association of a matrix of priority, a questionnaire and on factors of quality and reliability as a result a numerical value to be used as a base in the suppliers assessment
