Resumo: The level of importance regarding the relationship among companies and their suppliers within the chain of goods have increased this chain to the desired level due to the trade market demandings which manage the current trade relationships. Thus, companies are searching for partnerships with their suppliers which will be able to raise them to a competitive level within the trade market they do their business. This research has as its main goal to look into the relationship of the suppliers within the clothing industry in the city of Juiz de Fora, MG. The specific objectives of this research deals with identifying the good manners suggested in the literary review, trace and map the concept of the clothing industry administrators in terms of how important the facts shown are and evaluate the use of these manners along with the good manners suggested in the literature when dealing with the suppliers. A questionnaire for a poll has been created in order to reach these goals whose questions are based on the bibliography review. The questionnaire has been tested as a sample with 51 clothing companies in Juiz de Fora, MG between July and October of 2009. The topics which have been pointed out by the companies that have been interviewed as being the ones with better performance and with a high level of importance were the ones related to the search for the best suppliers regarding the improvement of their products and service, improvement or maintenance of the quality pattern required by the clothing industry and the way they meet deadlines and schedules. The results showing the worst performance and a lower level of evaluation have been the ones related to service offer linked to the product itself, the involvement of the suppliers concerning the development of the products or services and supplier training practice. This project establishes a scientific reference that broadens the line of knowledge and can be used as a support for the strategies of the relationship with the clothing industry suppliers.
