Resumo: Taxonomy can be currently defined as classificatory structures that possess the purpose to allow aggregation of information and data, which might be accessed through web browsing. This works presents a detailed study to elaborate taxonomy of the Environmental Geochemistry domain. Furthermore, it discuss theoretical and methodological principles of knowledgement organization, based on both postulates of the Faceted Classification Theory by Ranganathan and the Integrative Levels Theory from research carried out by CRG (Classification Research Group), as well as on studies of contemporaries authors whose their works offer principles to create theoretical and conceptual models of complex domains. The applied method here is supported by these principles. The present thesis is characterized as a qualitative and applied research, where its final result was the elaboration of taxonomy by using a conceptual map. This map was constructed from a sampling of identified concepts in the key-words of defended theses in the Graduate Program of Environmental Geochemistry of UFF (Universidade Federal Fluminense) from 1995 to 2005. The presented results have pointed out that there is a possibility of interdisciplinary domains representation based on hybridization of theoretical and methodological principles here discussed.
