The research which led to this dissertation has as object the socialization of young inhabitants of slums of the city of Rio De Janeiro.The main objective of this work was to know the factors that take these young to choose to live in accordance with what society considers legitimate right, but also respecting the laws.It is a based study, mainly, in the biographical stories of the young, of its parents and professors.Searching to more know on the familiar, communitarian and social reality of the young, considered elements important to understand the choices that make in the life. One understood that the family is basic in the formation of the young, but that she has familiar contexts and actions that facilitate that the young interiorizem in the form of desires and personal options what they wait of them.One understood that the young chooses to live respecting the laws for different reasons: of ideological nature and the related ones to the pragmatic option for the life.One concluded that it is necessary to review the notion of " vulnerability social" of the young inhabitants of slums, from new bases for quarrel and analysis of the subject, abandoning the ideas based on the poverty as " potentially criminal".
