Resumo: This dissertation studies the development and exploitation of the coastal areas from the tourist area, as well as its different characteristics in the society, Economy, Environment and Government of the coastal cities of Vitória Espírito Santo in Brazil, and Bahia de Banderas, in the state of Nayarit, Mexico. The work is presented in the first chapters of the geographical approaches to tourism, the historical, and the approximations these two sciences, as part of the development of a comparative descriptive study. The concept of the coastal space is studied particularly from the geographic point of view with the contributions of the different authors of Geography and Tourism. Research, development and data collection of each of the coastal areas of Banderas and Vitória Bay is presented, showing its location and particularities from the Touristic-Geographic area. This work is complemented with data from the sources of Governmental and civil, local, national and international sources that are related to the tourist activities of each Coastal space, once analyzed each space is presented the result of the accomplishment of the descriptive comparative study between these two coastal spaces, the main model being the life cycle model of Richard Butler's CVDT life destinations, which allowed to reveal the positive and negative variants these two coastal spaces as a tourist destination and to understand the current situation is the which is found, as well as the general structure that allow its variation.
