Resumo: | The objective of this job was to test the influence of different levels of pruning in plantations of hybrid clonal Eucalyptus grandis versus Eucalyptus urophylla in the region of Vale do Rio doce, in the state of Minas Gerais, aiming to minimize damage by winds, also to study the influence in pruning in the formation of knots and the increase of resistance to windbreak. The experiment was held in hybrid plantations of Eucalyptus urophylla versus Eucalyptus grandis, spacing of 3.00 x 3.33 meters with clones A and B, in Belo Oriente, Minas Gerais.Three artificial treatments were used, four replicates in plants aging from twenty four months. To evaluate the influences in the levels of pruning of in the resistance of the woods of the clones A and B, a method of resistance testing was used. The dendrometric characteristics were evaluated, total height, diameter at breast height, commercial height and breaking height weren’t influence by the levels of artificial pruning. Clone A showed more resistant than clone B. In relation to the strength to touch the soil, it wasn´t possible to indentify the relation between the levels of pruning and the increase in the strength to touch the soil. The level of artificial pruning D2 contributed the most to the increase of strength to break and also contributed to the reduction of loss in the percentage of damaged hectares. The production of clones weren’t affected by levels of artificial pruning. For the diameter class (<0.50 cm), there was a statistical difference to the position of evaluation that were done up to 5m of height, however there weren’t any significant interaction between clone and position; clone and levels of artificial pruning. For the class of diameter (0.50 to 1.00 cm), the position of evaluation of knots (up to 5m of height) along the trunk significantly different to the level of 5% by the Turkey´s test, besides that, the effect of application in levels of artificial pruning were the same to the clones A and B. The number of the external knots to the diameter class (>1.00 cm) in the levels of pruning of D1 and D2 differed from the T1 control at the level of 5% probability by the Turkey´s test. There was a significant interaction between the clones and the positions of evaluation of the external knots to the class the diameter class (>1.00cm). The level of artificial pruning D2 is the most indicated to the increase of resistance of force to topple, as proved to clone A. The application of levels of pruning D2 contributed to the increase of resistance of windbreak, leading directly to the reduction of loss of hectares in the forest of clonal Eucalyptus urophylla versus Eucalyptus grandis. The cicatrization and closure of the injury promoted by the levels of artificial pruning contributed to the increase of clean woods, reduction of knots and the improved the resistance of the wood. |
