Resumo: | The present work makes an analysis of the female education issue, detaching woman’s trajectory in the expansion of educational and social opportunity at Vitória, through the mastership professionalisation represented by Normal School, checking the ideological and social mutations processed in the brazilian educational model and the relation woman/education/mastership in the first half of 20th century. In this approach we locate the gender relations in a process of socio-historical construction, focusing this relation in a board of representations and traditional values that remained in brazilian society over the national development process. In the perspective of these issues we focus education in the brazilian culture from the conjucture and the colonial ideology, followed by the monarchical period, locating the relation woman/education and the search for female visibility in the process of the changes that happened until Republic. We board the republican education in a board of changes among conservatism and the nationalist positivist ideology and the fight for alphabetization (literacy). The Normal School, its ideology, its function and the teachers’ graduation configure the major references in this analysis, where we locate the mastership while a female professional identity built in 20th century. The interlacing between church and family as disciplining and controller agents of the female conduct will direct the woman to a condition of wife and mother, creating bases for the teacher profession. In this board we trace considerations about the “normalist” (graduate of a normal school) view in the context of the society from Espírito Santo, their graduation at Vitória Normal School and the possibilities qualitative leap “from home to teacher status”. |
