Resumo: Public investment in infrastructure through bidding processes that remunerate private companies for the execution of collective interest works is a Brazilian reality that awakens, in the popular conscience, among other issues, reflection about how and how efficient the applications of public resources are. The significant amount invested in public works in the country and the search for greater quality of the structures delivered gave rise to this research, which aimed to develop a performance evaluation process of companies contracted to carry out engineering works/services at the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo (IFES). For this purpose, the multi-criteria decision analysis methodology Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to rank the evaluative criteria and sub-criteria chosen by members of IFES Engineering Projects and Works sector together with this researcher. After the construction of an evaluation form, the performance evaluation process of the construction companies that work in the Institution was remodeled based on the Business Process Management (BPM) precepts. The results obtained produced a performance evaluation form that was more consistent with the thinking of the responsible team and allowed a greater understanding of the implementing the process importance within the organization.
