Resumo: This research aims to verify how the representations of social roles, from a perspective of gender relations, are understood by young high school students belonging to 10 public schools. The research is linked to the line of research Youth and contemporary issues of the Professional Master of Sociology in the National Network (PROFSOCIO) of the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) and was carried out during the years 2018 and 2020. The research is divided into three stages, through the combination of techniques that involve a qualitative methodology. In the first stage, I conducted participant observation, applied 56 questionnaires for pre-test and a pedagogical workshop at Escola Maria Guacira. In the second stage, I applied 332 questionnaires in 10 public schools, highlighting that the questionnaire was reformulated after the pre-test phase. The third stage included two semi-structured interviews, one with the pedagogical coordinator of the Maria Guacira School and the other with the pedagogical coordinator of the Francisco Bourdieu School. I used Pierre Bourdieu, Guacira Lopes Louro and Heleieth Saffioti as a theoretical reference, seeking to understand the gender relations and their dimensions in the school environment, as well as the power relations that permeate this environment. The result of the research points to the need for theoretical and pedagogical investments on the theme of gender relations and sexual diversity in the training of teachers, as well as the importance of addressing such themes in the school environment.
