This paper presents the development of the educational board RPG game titled "JOURNEY OF THE GUARDIANS OF THE FOREST – PLAYING WITH THE FAMILIAR AND THE STRANGE", created as part of the Professional Master's Degree Program in Teaching Sociology. The game, based on the indigenous tales of Daniel Munduruku, was designed to offer a playful and participatory approach to sociology teaching, using RPG (Role-Playing Game) as an active methodology. The choice of a board game format as an educational tool was driven by the need to engage students in an interactive and immersive way, challenging traditional learning paradigms and emphasizing the recognition and appreciation of otherness. By exploring the legends and myths of various indigenous peoples, the game encourages students to learn more about the "other," to understand the world through cultural elements different from those they are most familiar with. This not only broadens their horizon of understanding but also raises awareness of the realities of different societies. Simultaneously, from a socio-interactionist perspective, the game aims to stimulate the development of the student's "Self," as they are encouraged to reflect on their own identities, values, and responsibilities within a pluralistic society. Therefore, the game fosters meaningful discussions among students about their own perceptions, biases, and privileges, encouraging greater self-awareness and understanding of the world around them by placing them in an active role for problem-solving and decision-making through the eyes of a character. This work is justified by the need to promote respect and appreciation for ethnic and cultural differences, particularly regarding the indigenous issue in Brazil. Thus, this project aims to spark interest in utilizing the educational product, promoting enriching experiences for students and teachers both inside and outside the classroom. |
