The study investigates the relationship between credit supply, economic growth and the employment balance in the five regions of Brazil during 2003-2017, by Panel Vector Autorregressive (PVAR), with the adaptation proposed by Love and Zicchino (2006). The variables present persistence dynamics, there is a virtuous cycle in their respective growth rates. As anticipated, the expansion in credit and economic activity have positive effects on labor market dynamics. There is also a positive short-term effect of the improvement in the employment balance on credit and economic activity. The function impulse response indicates that one positive deviation in the employment balance has a positive and increasing effect over time on lending, suggesting the importance of labor market conditions on credit opening at the regional level. |
