Resumo: The present study evaluates the action of the Núcleo de Assistência Integrado ao Fissurado (NAIF), a rehabilitation service for children and adolescents with cleft lip and palate (CLP). The recognition of CLP as a disability and a public health issue and, therefore, of access to rights, in Brazil and in the world, was problematized. It is an In-Depth Assessment, contemplating the analysis of context and content, with a quantitative and qualitative focus. In the quantitative study, a descriptive analysis of 3675 records of service users was carried out, from the period 2001 to 2021, systematized into four variables: age of registration in the service, gender, type of craving and origin. Qualitative analysis comprised semi-structured interviews with NAIF professionals, family members of children and adolescents monitored at the service, as well as adolescents assisted. The interviews were subjected to content analysis. The results demonstrate that the NAIF arose from the need to organize interdisciplinary work to respond to the demand of users with CLP in the state of Ceará. However, the nucleus needs greater recognition and investment by the State. Family members experience feelings of shock at the diagnosis and prejudices resulting from the CLP; face difficulties accessing the core. However, once inserted in the service, they demonstrate satisfaction with the treatment received. The study showed the negative impact of CLP on the lives of adolescents, due to the influence of stigma on self-image and the occurrence of bullying, which can lead to psychological problems and difficulties in social insertion. The adolescents interviewed demonstrate satisfaction with the NAIF service. It was concluded that the NAIF has played an important role in the rehabilitation of people with CLP, however, it still has weaknesses, which prevent it from offering a comprehensive rehabilitation. Finally, there was a need to reinforce public policies aimed at the health of individuals with CLP, investing in institutionalization and articulation with the SUS networks.
