Resumo: In the context of the covid-19 pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2, the greatest catastrophe in recent human history, and the immersion of a nurse working on the front lines of the fight against the disease, are the emotional milestones of this research. In the race against time in the face of the spread of the coronavirus, with the increase in the number of deaths, bereaved families, a collapsed health system, the creation of a vaccine presented itself as the only initiative capable of stopping the uncontrollable expansion of the pandemic. The present research brought together the steps and clues that promoted the worldwide race for the development of the vaccine against covid-19 and the tortuous saga for its arrival in Brazil, when the situation was approaching total lack of control. The renowned National Immunization Program (PNI), existing in Brazil since September 18, 1973, almost collapsed. The accumulated 48 years of extensive mass vaccination expertise has not received due attention from the Federal Government. The PNI was responsible for expanding vaccination strategies in the country, reaching high levels of efficiency with the eradication of smallpox in 1973 and polio in 1989, among others, in addition to wide international recognition. Adding to the historical struggle for the preservation of the SUS, for life, for the right to immunization and for the hope of overcoming the pandemic, this study mapped the clues for the construction of a national vaccination plan against Covid-19 in Brazil, through immersion researcher, as a nurse working on the front line, during the darkest months of a professional career that practically began during the pandemic. Like someone putting together a puzzle with many missing pieces that are revealed over the days, the rhizomatic evaluation aimed to systematize the countless lines that wove the initiatives to create a public vaccination policy against Covid-19, from the emergence of the vaccine in the foreign context in 2020, until its present distribution in the Brazilian national territory. Having gathered the clues and systematized their paths and mishaps, according to the cartographic research proposal, a scenario is presented at the end of the study, on a theme that continues in full flow of creation.
