Resumo: |
The present research aims to analyze, oppose and question, through the political vocabulary of the time, the discourses that proposed to legitimize and bind the Confederation of Ecuador as a "separatist" political movement in Brazil in 1824, paying attention to the issues inherent in the ideal of nation, basilar subject in what concerns the formation of the Brazilian National State between the years of 1822-1824 with the advent of events considered vital for its effectiveness, such as Political Emancipation (1822), General Constituent Assembly of Brazil (1823 ) and the Political Constitution of the Empire granted in 1824. In this way, we turn our attention to the news published in the period of events by the periodical press, especially the newspapers The Spectator of Brazil, the French publisher and bookseller Pierre Plancher and the Journal of the Government of Ceará published by Father Gonçalo Ignacio de Loiola Albuquerque and Melo (Father Mororó) in full liberal rhetoric voiced by the "liberals of the North" before and during the Confederation of Ecuador. Both newspapers printed in the provinces of Rio de Janeiro and Ceará, respectively, in 1824. It is worth noting the choice of these newspapers, as well as the observations made by their readers, present two antagonistic points of view about the Confederation of Ecuador and the ideal of a nation longed for the Empire of Brazil this year. |
