Resumo: Translation students explore several assistive resources for professional practice during their translator training programmes. Learning the various ways used to translate is part of the syllabus in these courses, and it is essential to develop the required skills to provide efficient services. Since the 1990s, corpora have been productive material for Translation Studies, mainly because they provide large-scale databases designed for natural language processing (LAVIOSA et al, 2017). For this reason, corpora analysis is included in the set of translation assistive methodologies. Besides, it represents an important tool, mainly for the translation of texts containing specialized language, such as in the areas of Engineering or Medicine, whose terminology is usually not common in the context of translator training (BOWKER, 1999). Therefore, in this study, the potential of awareness about the need for specific instruction in corpus analysis was explored. This was verified during the conduction of translation tasks that used corpus tools, AntConc and TranslatorBank, as translation aids. Furthermore, the level in which the use of these activities helped to improve the capacity of solutions for segments that represent translation issues was also investigated. Both investigations were checked based on the results from a translator training workshop, in which translation tasks of two types were conducted: one with corpus analysis and another one without it.
