Resumo: Talking about prostitution and violence against the woman who prostitutes herself is pointing to a need for a new look and not just a different look. Understanding that public policies, already focused on women in general, do not reach women who prostitute themselves, this research aimed to analyze the different experiences of violence suffered by sex workers in the city of Sobral/Ce. In the case of an intervention research, in which data collection was carried out between the months of February 2023 and March 2024, it was carried out in three distinct stages: I) institutional visits; II) conducting conversation circles with active and retired sex workers; and III) individual interview with the leadership of ASTRAS, using a semi-structured script and a socioeconomic questionnaire. To analyze the data used, the theoretical- methodological approach of the notion of discursive practices and production of meanings was carried out. It was evidenced, as an urgency, a humanized look of the municipality/State in the elaboration of care strategies, public policies aimed at these women, as well as the importance of violence against the woman who prostitutes themselves to enter the statistics.
