Resumo: The Africanidades Project developed by me, as a Sociology teacher, intended to propose a discussion on the teaching of Sociology can contribute to promoting an anti-racist education in the school environment. For this, a pedagogical intervention was carried out based on knowledge, sociological tools and historical understanding of racial relations. The objective is to use the theoretical-practical knowledge of the Social Sciences as a facilitating strategy of the teaching-learning process, encouraging students to know Sociology from scientific research, while stimulating the development of critical and analytical thinking so that these students are able to develop the understanding of the most diverse social problems. The intervention was carried out at the João de Abreu State School in the city of Baraúna/RN, from November 2, 2020 to November 20 of the same year. This school was chosen to carry out the project, because it is where I develop my activities as a teacher of Sociology. It is a school located in the urban area, with about 1085 students and the subject of Sociology is taught in the three shifts and in the three grades of high school. The interest in the theme arises during the Pedagogical Week of the school in 2019, when it was proposed to the teachers of the Humanities Area to build a project for the day of Black Consciousness. In this way, I began to reflect on how Sociology could be an important tool to promote ethnic-racial discussions in the school environment and help raise awareness among students, teachers and school management. Therefore, in 2019, I dedicated the Sociology classes of the third and fourth bimesters to work on sociological concepts and themes related to racism and social injustices suffered by the black population. For that reason, this experience instigated me to rethink new pedagogical strategies to work on ethnic-racial themes in Sociology classes in the year 2020. In the course of this work, I presented some analyses and the report of the development of the application on the Project. At the end of the experience, I report on the importance of the project and the reflections it aroused on the need to mobilize teachers, students and management of the institution for the appropriation of different strategies to combat racial prejudice and discrimination in the school environment.
