Resumo: Human beings need freedom to move from one point to another, from any place they want without any physical or mental disturbances, regardless of their limitations, safeguarding their dignity to move around. In this sense, the objective of this dissertation is to evaluate the Municipal Walkability Plan of Fortaleza from the accessibility of the elderly person in the Maraponga neighborhood. Methodologically, it was taken a qualitative approach, we seek support from Lejano's (2012) experiential perspective, which seeks to capture the communicative nuances between researcher and environment. As for the technical procedures, we made use of documentary research, and, in order to delve into the theme, we resorted to the analysis of state, federal and municipal legal provisions that guarantee the accessibility of the elderly in urban spaces in their perspective of creating a full access locus to human beings. We work with the categories of inclusion, walkability, mobility and accessibility as proposals that reveal this academic-scientific investigation. Therefore, we took advantage of the interview technique, following a script as in the supplement. Initially, the interviews were carried out with twelve elderly residents of the Maraponga neighborhood, seeking to compare similarities or not in relation to the main difficulties faced in moving on the sidewalks, also with six elderly residents of different neighborhoods in the city, noting similarities in the main complaints reported and the urgency of thinking about concrete solutions to improve displacements in public spaces at all stages of life. In addition, we used the observation of elderly people during their displacements on the sidewalks, covering walkability and accessibility on Avenida Godofredo Maciel, Maraponga/CE, from October 2021 to March 2022. Regarding the locos, we observed the main obstacles present through a checklist and sought to know the consequences of Operation Accessible Sidewalk, initiated by the city of Fortaleza as part of the Walkability Plan, claiming to provide a more accessible city to all subjects, including the elderly.
