O entorpecimento do eu na contemporaneidade sob as injunções da racionalidade instrumental

The current paper works with the aspects of the constitution and operation of ego in contemporaneity. The ego was the instance chosen to work with because of its function of mediation between inner world and outside world, being responsible for making the reality principle come true, by the secundary psycho processes, wich are: attention, memory, judgment, discrimination, thinking and motive actions, being those elements central in the individuals life, according to the Freudian Psychoanalysis. For this, we used the teorical presupposition of Frankfurt School by T. Adorno and Max Horkheimer, as the fulcrum for understanding the relation between individual and culture, and also freudian Psychoanalysis. Starting with these presuppositions, we make clear that, at contemporaneity, acting with the instrumental reason, the self's potenciality, as the headquarters of reason, and when preserved is able to protect the autonomy of the one, is acting, nowadays, against itself, submiting the individuals to a progressive fragilization, creating fake individuals, submited to the merchandising logic and destroying the capacity of well being and human emancipation. That's because, the self when captured for the glowing images of spetacle's society exonerates the conscient thinking , condition sine qua non of singularization, staying relegated to the ostracism, since the individual is not able to claim for his active position of subject in the world and think for himself so that he could discriminate objects for his satisfaction and respect the bounderies of reality principle. The individuals are locked up in compulsive tendencies of satisfaction through consumption, caracteristics of self, exacerbating the fragility feature of self. It's convenient to point out that for this path we used the metodological procedure of bibliografic research embased on the qualitative and interpretative method of Qualitative Research (Rey, 2005).
