Resumo: The objective of this work is to show the relationship between the themes of the poetry of Brazilian Joao da Cruz e Sousa (1861-1898) with the German philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860) and the poetry of Charles Baudelaire French (1821-1867). This thesis suggests an imaginary line Schopenhauer, Baudelaire, Schopenhauer, which would have influenced the choices of the author of poetic Desterro, Florianópolis current. The proposed route also takes into account issues of personal poet, as the suffering caused by the condition of black, the persecution of opponents in poetry and especially the struggle for happiness, synthesized in a first moment, the expectation of success and recognition of their talent and, subsequently, the hope of redemption after death, the immortality of his work and the dissolution of matter. By appropriating some issues related to Schopenhauer and Baudelaire, the "Black Swan" has built a particular poetry of intense internal struggle, in which man and Sousa Cruz shines in every line, forming a very personal work in the Brazilian literary scene, serving as historical document, and reflection to the human drama and the difficulty of success for the less privileged.
