Resumo: Traditional knowledge in fishing comprises a set of practices and skills acquired in artisanal fishing communities in its relation to the aquatic environment and society. With the inclusion of ethnoknowledge in the classroom the students have the ability to understand the integration of scientific knowledge and traditional knowledge in order to develop the spirit of conservation and environmental protection. In order to promote dialogue between traditional and scientific knowledge, this study was conducted in a school, located in Porto Rico, Paraná, Brazil. We adopted the participant research. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires with open questions, interviews, field diary and recording audio and video during the application of a didactic sequence. We use the proposed Bardin to analyze content. As a result of this research we understand that the construction of traditional knowledge is directly related to representative of an older generation and insertion of dialogue between traditional and scientific knowledge in the school environment contributes to formation of a critical and participatory attitude of students.
