Resumo: The research has at its core the local history of Guarapuava municipality and its teaching. It sought to understand the conceptions of local history in the history subject present in elementary school I of Guarapuava - PR. In this sense, it analyzed the municipal curriculum, the teachers' ideas and the textbooks used in schools. The study was developed in the field of Historical Education, for which Peter Lee conceives the concept of substantive historical ideas and second-order ideas, a tool that would allow to evaluate teachers’ understanding of history, also resorting to theorist Jörn Rüsen, whose work reflects about historical consciousness. From this reasoning, a qualitative methodology was chosen, through which it was possible to privilege the application of exploratory survey about the investigative field, and later interviews with teachers referring to the main study. I emphasize that in the empirical research, through the exploratory survey it was possible to identify several sources used by teachers, among them, the most mentioned are the textbooks. Therefore, they were also analyzed later. The thesis was developed in the research field "Spaces of Practice and Power Relations", of the Postgraduate Program in History, of Centro Oeste State University - Unicentro / PR.
