Resumo: |
As evidenced through research, the theme Quality of Work Life (QWL) for People with Disabilities (PwD) is still little explored in Brazil. The most common studies are related to the insertion of PwD in the labor market. Thus, it is necessary to give more attention to the theme, considering the need to contribute to the use of the professional capacities of the PwD. Because of that, this study has as its guiding question: How do public employees with disabilities, from a city hall in the interior of the State of Paraná, perceive their quality of life at work? The model used was the Biopsychosocial and Organizational (BPSO) of Limongi-França (1996). The themes that support the study are disability, work for PwD, inclusion of PwD, QWL, the Brazilian Public Sector and QWL regarding disability. The methodological approach is descriptive qualitative through a case study. Data collection took place, through semi-structured interviews, as well as bibliographic research, which was part of the composition of the theoretical framework presented. For data analysis, contents analysis was used. Initially, the profile of public employees with disabilities is presented, thus getting to know the investigated public. It is described what QWL is for the workers – visual and physical PwD. The biological, psychological, social, and organizational aspects of QWL are identified. In the biological dimension, most of them would like larger spaces to feel comfortable in their work environment; on the issue of accessibility, the visual PwD report that their limitation does not require a specific accessibility, whereas the physical PwD face greater difficulties. The dimension that has the greatest impact is the psychological, as prejudice is one of the aspects that the PwD had to face, but currently they feel included and respected in the work environment. In the social dimension, it is identified that the city government provides some opportunities for socialization, leisure, and cultural activities. In the organizational dimension, despite presenting some actions, such as training and development, technology processes still need to be developed and communication must be improved. As positive aspects of QWL, the following were indicated by the employees: the stability of the public service, salary, the relationship with coworkers, payment on the predetermined date, the servant‟s statute and some workplaces are accessible to the PwD. The negative aspects mentioned were bureaucracy, delaying in obtaining material for their activities, changes in managers due to elections, stress, demands, ergonomics and lack of accessibility in some places. The employees see the city hall as a good place to work and the positive aspects lead them to this conclusion. The BPSO approach allowed to improve the understanding of organizational problems, analyzing the information presented by the workers, to give more visibility to the PwD. |
