Resumo: |
This study aimed to evaluate the performance of feedlot ewe lambs through weight gain, carcass yield and non-carcass components using high concentrate diets formulated on the farm in comparison with commercial feed and analyze which is the best cost-benefit. The study used 24 weaned Corriedale ewe lambs, around 150 days old, with 28 ± 4 kg live weight, confined in 2 m2 pens in a suspended pen with a slatted floor. The animals were randomly separated into two groups: one group received 0.4% of live weight of tifton hay and 4% Agrária's MaxiCorte Dieta Total®commercial feed, and the other group received hay and high concentrate diet in the same proportion. From the results it can be concluded that the animals that received the on farm feed obtained higher average daily gain. As for costs, the animals that received the on farm feed had a net income of R$ 0.41 (U$ 0.07), while the animals that received the commercial feed had a negative income of R$ 0.45 (U$ 0.08)/day. |
