The role of the stomal therapy nurse is not only to give guidance to the patient after the construction of the stoma, his work begins before that. This specialized professional works in the preoperative, intraoperative, immediate postoperative, midway and late postoperative periods, with home or outpatient care, which is the focus of the present study. The objective of this research was to study the quality of life of the elderly with intestinal ostomy who receive outpatient nursing care at the Lineu Ara??jo Integrated Health Center in the city of Teresina-PI. This is an epidemiological, descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The outpatient ostomate program has 584 enrollees. Of these, 90.41% had intestinal ostomy and 9.59% had urinary ostomy; 97.26% had only one ostomy and 2.74% had two ostomies. Of those registered, 127 are elderly, stratified by age range: from 60 to 69 years a quantitative of 61 elderly, from 70 to 79 years a quantitative of 42 elderly and greater or equal 80 years ago there was a quantitative of 24 elderly. It could be concluded that the profile of the participants of the study was of women, aged between 60 and 69 years old, widows, who finished primary school, currently retired, having the stomal etiology of the intestinal neoplasia and definitive permanence. It could be seen that most of the elderly have a positive view about their quality of life, considering that there was an average of 381.20 of QOL. |
