Resumo: The emergence and exponential growth of a new virus with deadly potential around the world caused a series of changes in the forms of relationship between people and in the perspectives they have of the world. The coronavirus pandemic led public and private institutions to encourage physical and social isolation, a movement that amplified the adoption of information and communication technologies from March 2020 in Brazil. In this context, our proposal emerged to analyze the exposure of individuals within this specific relational scenario of a platform: Instagram. In the deepening and immersion in the subject, however, new discoveries provoked a displacement in the investigation route and presented a new way to develop the research. Especially regarding the methodological aspects used to carry out studies on this platform. For this reason, we started to address the technical and legal challenges imposed that put the collection and processing of data in these platforms in check from many obstacles that come up, still in ethical and regulatory characteristics. We found many obstacles, such as barriers imposed by the terms of use of the platform, as well as inconsistencies or gaps in the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) that either make it unfeasible or compromise the integrity of the investigation due to information governance aspects. We also propose a roadmap that can help researchers of digital social networks in general and not just Instagram.
