Resumo: Considering the importance of the scholar space for a meeting promotion of several types of knowledge, this study aims to investigate how Health in School Programme (PSE) is being developed in a public primary school located in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. As subjects of this research were interviewed four: three whose background was in education and who works at the mentioned school and one that was a health professional – nurse at the Basic Health Unit that attends the school in this Municipality. They provide insights into how to plan, execute, record and measure actions of PSE as a public policy considering this study scenario. Besides them, the School's Political Pedagogical Project (PPP) document analysis and Health in School Programme guiding document were important elements for the research. Data collection took place through document analysis and semi-structured interviews, using the snowball methodology. A global analysis was performed from the triangulation of these data, using the thematic analysis method. Data obtained was analyzed and used as subsidy for reflection and to try to evidence the pedagogical practices linked to the possibility of built knowledge that comes from the application of this programme. From this perspective, emerged three thematic categories –Planning, execution and results of the PSE: from manual to reality; Articulation between health professionals and education and the relationship with the knowledge built and; Strengths and fragility of the PSE: political agreement and cultural change - that sought to respond to the objectives of the study. The research has shown that even with some obstacles to the PSE implementation, its success possibilities that could be brought to school contexts are real. Depending on its design, the programme has a powerful potential and could allow the promotion of health improvement of students and other members of the school community, as well as the neighborhood community.
