Resumo: |
Analyzing violence in Brazil is a complex task. There are no ready-made solutions, let alone easy ones. Faced with a society that is tired and frightened by the high levels of crime, the punitive discourse has found more and more followers. The issue, however, is much more complex and has much deeper roots. Assuming that violence has its origin in social injustices, the research proposes to study the close relationship between the predatory work relations practiced in Brazil, since its beginnings, and the prison. The reflection that is made focuses on a society constituted with exploratory purposes that does not admit threats to its position of command, to the detriment of a majority that has been denied their most basic rights to life and dignity. The work makes a historical and economic rescue until the year 2021, with an analysis of the international documents of which Brazil is a signatory, of the labor protective legislation in contrast to the criminal and constitutional legislation, in order to prove that the criminalization of poverty has been a practice adopted throughout the existence of our country, where the expansion of the Penal State has been a response that feeds back the rates of violence, without presenting an effective solution to the problem. The purpose is to contribute to the debate on the issue, knowing that segregation and death are not a way to reduce crime. It is necessary to think in a more assertive and humane way, reducing inequalities and ills, if we want to build a future for the new generations. |
