This work proposes research Latin American philosophy, in three distinct moments, as of the concepts of mental emancipation, authenticity and epistemic disobedience. Through the historic rescue of Juan Bautista Alberdi’s work in the nineteenth century, the proposal of mental emancipation will be highlighted. It will then be evaluated, from the works by José Carlos Mariátegui and Augusto Salazar Bondy in the twentieth century, the requirement of authenticity for Latin American thinking. Finally, the role of epistemic disobedience will be highlighted, especially with the works of José Martí and Walter Mignolo, in our twenty-first century. In this sense, the research aims to walk a common thread that follows the three different periods, in order to show three fundamental moments in the evolution of Latin American thought.
