Resumo: This doctoral thesis aims to understand how the CASA Foundation performs the fulfillment of the socio-educational measure of deprivation of liberty, with regard to gender and race, taking into account for this analysis the narratives of three young people who have passed through the institution and are currently with greater civil age. In addition, it also aims to know the resonance of this service in the memories and memories of the protagonists in relation to the period they were hospitalized and thus answer the following question: how young black women narrate their experiences and their daily life during the period of deprivation of freedom at the CASA Foundation? It was observed that, from the narratives of the young women, three categories of analysis emerged that served as a reference for the chapters of the thesis, such as: fear and shame, sadness and loneliness and self-care. The research is qualitative and the methodological approach is based on the application of semi-structured interviews that were recorded and transcribed, field study, ethnography, literature review, relevant publications in the area of Applied Social Sciences and the Official Documents of the CASA Foundation Guidelines, the ECA and SINASE. The thesis is organized as follows: Introduction that discusses the trajectory and experiences lived by the researcher as a servant of the institution, having this experience as a background to situate the research. He also discusses the methodology used; 1 - Brief History: a gender cut in Brazil from the Colonial Period to the contemporary; 2 - The Female Universe in the CASA Foundation; 3 - The Young and Me: from the inside out; 4 - Terror: Fear and Shame; 5 - The Body and Self in the space of containment and Final Considerations that present the contributions, relevance, suggestions for future research, as well as pointed out the need for individualization and humanization of care in the socio-educational measure of hospitalization. In this study, my gaze is added as a black woman, researcher and servant of the CASA Foundation. It is expected that the results will contribute and may impact on public policies that recognize the differences, individualities and rights of black youth, which are usually left out of discussions and studies in the follow-up to socioeducation
