Resumo: This dissertation Model Intervention in Family Guidance: a qualitative study focusing on children's education had support from Fapesp, and is the sequence of Search "Parental Education: an analysis of the pattern of education of children in families of low income", held as work on the completion of the course of Psychology in UNITAU, also with support from Fapesp in 2004. It was a search that identified the standard of education for low-income families to the periphery of the city of Taubaté, state of Sao Paulo and helped to awaken the interest to continue exploring this issue on children's education. We continue investigating this universe, now aiming to build and evaluate a model of Intervention in Family Guidance, which can help mothers and fathers in the exercise of parenthood. As a basis, the program was used Positive Parenting II, developed at the University of Minnesota in the United States, organized by Pitzer (1993). This programme has a specific methodology of guidance for parents in a group, with suggestions for conduct of meetings, activities, and movie themes for reflection and guidance under the age of the children. Used as the theoretical foundation Systemic Approach, which has made great contribution in studies of families. The participants of this research were 20 families, organized into 4 groups of fathers and mothers who have children between 07 and 11 years of age. After three months of the end of the intervention, was held a meeting with participants to verify the results. It was observed that there were significant changes in attitudes and behaviour of parents, for educational practices prior to the meetings. Another relevant figure was observed the capacity for reflection, initiative and emotional balance of parents facing new situations in daily life. So we can say that there was a mobilization of internal and external resources which favoured the empowerment of participants face the complex task of parentar. This is a qualitative study, characterized by a method of analysis which involves preparation of the data insofar as they are collected. The search results can help professionals in psychology and related areas who work with fathers, mothers and families
