This paper aims to present the analysis of the subjective dimension of teenagers experience at a social program and, with that, to reflect about youth public policies. To the social-historical psychology perspective, subjectivity is shaped according to the social conditions internalized by the individual who, assuming them creates particular ways of connecting to the world. To understand the subjective dimension of a certain reality doesn t mean to know only the way the individual grows in a specific context, it also means to know under which circumstances the subjectivity is produced. In this case, these circumstances involve a service care program for poor young people, which is sustained by Paraná s State government and is ruled by a specific public policy. To analyze the subjective dimension of young people s experience at the program it was done, at first, a research about the development of the meaning of youth in our society and about the meaning of youth to social policies. After that, a research was done involving a social program that attends poor young people by offering them professional qualification courses and guiding them to their first job. The research gathered the reading of written sources about the project and interviews with the technicians. There were also interviews with four of the young people attended by the program, asking them about their experience at the program, their perspectives for the future and their vision of young people. The interviews were analyzed through the speech s meaning core. The analysis indicated that the teenagers internalized the values and ideas associated to youth and their future expectations and even society, in general. The individualizing liberal society values impute responsibilities to the individual for his/hers success or failure, disregarding the social structure that determinates, in most parts, the individual path. At last, the analysis allowed the reflection about youth public policies |
