Resumo: |
This dissertation explores the communication processes that are established between the architectural project, the space, and the body. In order to do so, it was necessary to go beyond the functionalist models, contrasting the works and thoughts of the architects Sou Fujimoto and Le Corbusier. The research was based on the intention to investigate in what ways it is possible to think of another approach to design, communicate, and interpret the architectural space of the dwelling, beyond the functional one, which still seems to prevail. The Primitive Future House (2001), the Final Wooden House (2008), and the NA House (2011), are part of the corpus referring to Sou Fujimoto, these works were contrasted with Maison Dom-ino (1914) and Villa Savoye (1929) by Le Corbusier. The investigation embraces the political dimensions of communication and architecture through the continuous dialogue between the ways of designing and the culture. It also covers the dialogical relationship between body and environment that suggests other paths for the epistemology of architecture. The research is based on the concepts of espacialidade, communication, meio and ambiente by Lucrécia Ferrara, médiance by Augustin Berque, extended mind by Logan, and artifacts as extensions of the mind by McLuhan. The use of the methodological strategy of object observation and abduction processes marked strong phenomenological roots in the study. Contrasting Le Corbusier's proposals with Sou Fujimoto's, this research transits among several fields of knowledge: communication, architecture, ecology, semiotics, philosophy, and geography, trying to go beyond the disciplinary dogma. The concepts of "inhabiting" and "functionalization" have shown how they change over time and in the different works of architects. The concepts of communication and information appear as the difference in the modes of doing, designing, and communicating the works of architecture because they consider, differently from the modern, the body as a factor that influences the environment and its feedback, the environment influencing the body (the being) |
