Resumo: |
This dissertation aims to conduct a semiotic analysis of six government posters about the risks of HIV and AIDS. Directed at the female public, the referred pieces instigate discussion about sexuality in women of different age groups and marital status - they have common topics such as the use of condoms, the necessity of going through medical exams for early diagnosis and the possible adherence to the correct clinical treatment. The corpus of this research is made up of six 50cm X 40cm posters, displayed in public places like hospitals, medical centers, NGOs and others. We selected posters that follow this calendar: World AIDS Day Campaign in 2010; Carnival Campaign in 2011; World AIDS Day Campaign in 2004; World AIDS Day Campaign for pregnant women in 2004; International Women's Day Campaign in 2013 and Carnival Campaign in 2009. This analysis is based on theories of greimasian plastic semiotics, more specifically the use of Greimas's semiotic square, and textual discourse studies. The relevance of this research is linked to the importance of public health politics |
