Resumo: |
This work comprises a theoretical and bibliographical research that aims to investigate suicide as a singular and complex phenomenon that nonetheless is built from the material basis of history. To do so, the main objectives of this study are to introduce the historical changes in the meaning of suicide, to present the theoretical propositions of the phenomenon and its transformations, and to analyze the phenomenon of suicide from the epistemological categories of dialectical historical materialism, especially in the works of Vigotski, Leontiev and Luria, as well as other authors that collaborated with the development of this line of thinking in psychology. The research was based on the general bibliography available about the subject, focusing on the social history of Suicide and the theoretical propositions to interpret and analyze the data. The investigation allows the statement that suicide is an exclusively human action, closely related to the activity of the individual and with their affective-volitive bases, as well as with their needs and their knowledge about them. From the results of this study suicide can be portrayed as a phenomenon that is built from the historical and social relationships established by individuals along their existence, considering the objectivation and material and symbolic appropriation of the knowledge and experience of preceding generations |
