Resumo: Introduction: It is through the biopsy of skin that we can obtain material for the study histopathological of cutaneous lesions, which is an important subsidiary examination, sometimes fundamental, for conducting different dermatitis and clinical situations with dermatological involvement. However, we observe that even in necessary clinical situations, rarely physicians not experts indicate or perform this propaedeutic instrument. We believe that this occurs due to the fact that they do not feel empowered to indicate or perform such a procedure. Objective: We intend to evaluate how the residents of Medical Clinic (RCM) have previously been in relation to this situation, and then propose a theoretical and practical qualification and re-evaluate them afterwards. Methodology: Initial questionnaire addressed to the RCM, on how they feel about the theme, their experiences and knowledge about skin biopsy, followed by theoretical and practical training with simulation of procedure in anatomical pigs’ feet. Subsequent evaluation, two weeks from the initial intervention, through a questionnaire in which the resident is positioned in relation to the situations of indication and the realization of the biopsy, and revaluation of his performance. Quantitative analysis of the number of correct responses in the initial and final questionnaires. Individual analysis of the perception of residents in front of the inclusion of skin biopsy as a propaedeutic instrument of their future practice as clinical. Results/Conclusion: The intervention included nine residents of the Medical Clinic Residency program at the Faculty of Medical Sciences and Health of PUC/SP. Four RCM that participated in the study, felt fit to indicate a skin biopsy and none of them felt able to perform such a procedure alone. After training everyone responded to feel fit to indicate the procedure, claiming to find a procedure, useful, safe and easy to accomplish. A RCM consider himself unable to perform the procedure alone because it requires more training and eight consider theirselves able
