Formação em Psicologia em Mato Grosso: um estudo histórico sobre as condições concretas do surgimento do primeiro curso

Resumo: The present research is inserted among the studies of the history of Psychology in Brazil, especially on the state of Mato Grosso. Its objective was to understand the process by which the first psychology course of Cuiabá was founded, considering the specificities of the historical moment and social development of the territory in which it was constituted. It is based on the historical-dialectical materialist method and its premises, especially on the apprehension of history as a product of the collective work of the humans of the transformation of nature; and that the society in which this activity takes place produces particular forms of existence. For that, the collection and documentary analysis were chosen as procedures for the accomplishment of the study. The collection of documents was initiated through the e-MEC register of Institutions and Courses of Higher Education, allied to the investigation of the reports generated by IBGE and documents (opinions, resolutions and decrees) collected through the MEC information access portal. For the analysis of the data was used the technique of content analysis. The results indicated that the process for the foundation of psychology courses in the 1980s and 1990s was not only the product of the will of some, or an event without correlation with the dynamics of human action. It was understood that the authorization for the operation of the psychology courses in these outstanding decades took into account such issues as: social need, economic-financial capacity of the institution and geoeducational situation. Therefore, the data revealed that the courses of psychology, especially the UNIC, attended to the social needs produced in a social field and in a certain medium of production, in a given historical moment and in a determined territory. Such elements produced the specificities of established relationships, generating the ways in which the courses of psychology in question were introduced into Cuiaban society
