Resumo: |
This paper looks at difficulties presented by students of English as a Second Language who are not able to speak the language. Although dedicated to their studies, they can t overcome obstacles faced in their path. The current study has focused on mistakes as important occurrences to discuss this problem. Although mistakes are inevitable, they show an intricate relationship between the speaker and the language. This project aims to offer an alternative reflexion and analyses on mistakes in the acquisition process of English as a second language. Throughout this research, mistakes of Intermediate ESL (English of a Second Language) students are analysed based on two linguistically theoretical approach: Interactionism and Language Clínic . This work elected to (1) investigate errors of intermediate students (2) interpret mistakes under the theoretical perspective mentioned above; (3) reflect on the particular ways of the relationship speaker-language;(4) critically reflect on the traditional directions in formal ESL in light of this new perspective. Considerations on the relationship of the speaker and his mother language and its consequent interference in the acquisition of English as a second language are also discussed in this paper |
