Resumo: The purpose of this study is to verify the medial transposition of the book The King in Yellow (1895; 2014) by Robert W. Chambers (1865-1933) to the comics format – O Rei Amarelo em Quadrinhos (2015), published in Brazil by the publisher Draco, seeking to verify which strategies were used for the construction of supernatural elements and the aesthetic effect of horror. For the analysis of the process of intermediality and transformation of the book into new comics, we will use the studies of Irina O. Rajewsky (2012), Claus Clüver (2006; 2012), and Ana Luiza RamazzinaGhirardi (2022) with emphasis on the concepts of medial transposition and intermedial references, and Linda Hutcheon (2013) on the adaptation and insertion of the book in new contexts of reproduction and reception. To understand the functioning of language and narrative in Comics, studies by Will Eisner (2005; 2010), Scott McCloud (2005; 2006), and Thierry Groensteen (2013; 2015) will be used, and to verify the aesthetic effect of horror in the comics will use the concepts of Julia Round (2014) and Júlio França and Ana Paula Araujo (2018). The hypothesis is that the Comic book is a new media composition, wherefore, one must consider how the book The King in Yellow was transposed into Comics. That implies intermediality processes, such as the subcategories of medial transposition and intermedial references, according to the conception of studies by Irina O. Rajewsky. The adopted methodology comprises an interpretative and qualitative approach, which considers the function of intermediality processes between the narrative of the Comics and Chambers' book
