The end of last century has brought to the contemporary world, in the field of communication, important changes. In a particular way, the resources of digital communication, which obligated several sectors of society to take distance of the traditional ways and get approached of faster and more interactive means in the dissemination of information. These changes, which interfered the way of life of societies, also happened inside the catholic institution, one of the most traditional in the religious field. And, without crises, this institution felt obligated to enter this space in order to continue influencing people´s lives, preaching its words to the world, through the proclamation of the Gospel and also through networks. The goal of this essay is to analyze the event of social media in the religious field and its real interference in the processes of evangelization of youth in the contemporary world. We have been seeking to understand how the Church, attentive to the movements of cyberculture and to the need of changes in the way of evangelizing, has managed links and commitments, which are conditions of the evangelical message, in its desire to approach the youth. A survey answered by young between the ages of 14 and 19 helps to have a global vision of the most social media accessed by them, its use for the search of religious subjects and, yet, to evaluate if the networks and devices benefit such approach and creation of a link between the young and the religion. To achieve this, the validity was searched in church documents and in theoretical references about the theme Media and Communication, as well as the definition of the young, profile and the youthful scenario in different phases of History. 10 Among the authors studied, we can highlight Carranza, about the new catholic communities and his relation with the media; Sofiati, about religion and youth, in a historical-social and religious youth reading; Gaspareto, about the religion mediatization and its devices; Morin, about the subject in the base of the complex thought; Lévy, about the subject in the context of cyberculture; Bauman, about the liquidity characteristics as a spot of the postmodern subject; and Ausubel, about meaningful learning, specifically here to talk about the necessity of appropriateness of language in the communication between the Church and the young. The interpretation of the data leads us to consider as good news the fact that the youth have found on the networks possibilities of a closer approach with the religion. What cannot be measured here is the impact of this approach in people´s lives, since the institution doesn´t have an organ that verifies the level of this link and it doesn´t obey the linear principle officer |
