Resumo: |
This work analises the construction of the visual artist s identity in relation to the field of artistic production. At first, we look at Pierre Bourdieu s field theory, in which the field of artistic production reveals itself as a structure with disputes. These power disputes define the values that determine the works that will be considered art and which artist will be considered as such. After that, we discuss the identity theory developed by Jürgen Habermas and Antonio da Costa Ciampa, to establish a theorical frame to understand how identities are constructed nowadays. There are identities that have the possibility to determine themselves in accordance with their relationships, and there are identities that are dominated and determined by other interests than their own. One of the objectives in this thesis is to analise the visual artist s possibilities of emancipation while inside a field that has forces that may specify his or her identity based on these interests. For empirical data, we interviewed a professional visual artist, through a semidirected interview based on the narrative of his life story |
