Resumo: This work had as its main focus seeking to identify the social representations that the students of the Administration Course of Univille have about the profession of administrator. Another objective of the study was to identify how these students see their training received in that course and university, or as, whether this training helps to solidify or modify the existing representations. To account for these issues, at first, theoretical studies on the development of management theories to the current date were done, proceeding to the historical outline of this training in Brazil concerning its influence on the composition of the politicaI pedagogical plan of the course in study. Besides, the theoretical basis of the social representations and its possibility to analyze how the views of reality are constructed and sediment themselves was fundamental to reach the proposed objectives of the research. The research of qualitative nature was carried out through the use of questionnaires (annex 1) involving a population of 318 incoming students and graduates of this, course. This study had three types of analysis: descriptive based on frequency data and presented on graphics, analysis of free association data, using the EVOC software and speech analysis using the ALCESTE software. Through this analysis, it was possible to understand the Social Representations of students on the image of the profession and training chosen. This way, it was identified that the profession of administrator has a wide range of expertise in all organizations; also its market is of comprehensive actuation in private and public organizations or as autonomous companies. It was observed that the profession i seen as of high social recognition when coupled with continuous training. For he students the main activities of the profession involve planning, organization, direction (leadership) and the control of resources, being the leadership more difficult to be developed in the course.
