Resumo: In this work, the hypothesis of a method proposed by M. Bakhtin (1895-1975) is developed by investigating a collection of works which we call dialogic. The research is justified by the fact that the absence of a system or merely applicable schemes by what is conventionally called the Bakhtin Circle seems to suggest that a method and its rigor are dispensable, although, epistemologically, the methodological procedures rely on the works of thinkers in the Circle. Therefore, the present research aims to follow and to reconstruct a path toward the dialogic method in the context of Bakhtin’s works. To this end, we seek: (1) to demonstrate a process according to a possible method on the grounds of the discursive materiality, therefore, identified through the marks that emerge from the works we analyze, inscribed to Bakhtin under the condition of author; (2) to show, through analyses, the particularities of the method, if such is verified, which allow us to call it dialogic and to indicate essential guidelines for its development. The works signed by Bakhtin that compose the main corpus of this research are: Problems of Dostoevsky’s Poetics, published in 1963, and Rabelais and His World, published in 1965. First, the research engages in comparative analyses of Bakhtin’s texts about Dostoevsky’s and Rabelais’ writings. After collecting the marks of the workings of that method, we move to understand its organization and development, considering both the intrinsically sociological dimension and the enunciation dimension of shaping the dialogic method. The theoretical-methodological bases of the investigation are built upon the dialogic thinking, that is, the propositions of Bakhtin and other Russian thinkers, who composed together the Circles of reflection and conception of language, in addition to subsidies from the Dialogic Discourse Analysis. Hence, we aim to contribute to Dialogic Discourse Analysis and language studies as well as different possibilities of thinking and doing science
